By Matthew CoudenShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberDak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for another huge game on their road to potentially snag an NFL Playoff spot. Thursday brings Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and the Detroit Lions, another NFC team in the hunt for a return to the postseason.
The Cowboys' most recent victory came at the expense of former MVP and Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, who have struggled to rediscover their winning ways. Meanwhile, the Cowboys improved to 6-5-1 overall,
Prescott had a stellar game, throwing for 320 yards and two touchdowns, with just one interception. He’ll look to repeat that sort of success when visiting Ford Field, against a Detroit team hungry for a win after taking a Thanksgiving loss. A win for either team would be a huge step towards gaining entry as an NFC Wild Card team.

Heading towards that huge matchup, Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd offered an eye-opening statement about Prescott's legacy as an NFL quarterback.
...“Dallas plays Detroit on Thursday. I like Dallas in that game. They just beat Philly, and they just beat Kansas City,” he said, adding, “I thought they’d win four games this year.”
Cowherd said based on Dallas' remaining schedule, they can "win out" and reach the postseason, which would be another playoff appearance for Prescott under a different head coach. Based on that, Cowherd indicated on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" that it doesn't matter who is coaching Dallas; Dak is the biggest reason for their success.
"He is currently guiding the No. 1 offense in the NFL, and he is doing it with a third head coach," he said, reiterating that Prescott has played for Jason Garrett, Mike McCarthy, and Brian Schottenheimer during his seasons with Dallas.
"This is the best he's ever played. He's got at least five years left," Cowherd mentioned, indicating Prescott is top 10 in completion percentage, touchdown to interception ratio, and passer rating for his career.
"This is what the great ones do. They rise above the environment. They are not held down," he said regarding the situation with Dallas.
With that, the Fox Sports analyst said there needs to be a "different conversation" about how great Prescott is. When his co-host asked if he'd vote for Russell Wilson or Prescott for the Hall of Fame with his one vote, Cowherd shocked him by saying Prescott.
Based on Cowherd’s take, Wilson had great success with just one coach and one team. He also indicated that Wilson is declining as his career progresses, while Prescott continues to improve.
This season, Prescott has thrown for 3,261 yards and 25 touchdowns, further adding to his all-time stats. He sits at 39th overall with 34,698 passing yards, and should climb higher on the list as his season continues.
Prescott, 32, has another chance to add to his pro football legacy by helping his team win out their remaining games and reach the playoffs. While he doesn’t have a Super Bowl win yet, he’s certainly proven himself to be among the best quarterbacks with his overall body of work.
