Based on popular demand, YouTube has officially rolled out a yearly recap feature. As we approach the end of 2025, users of various platforms are often offered the opportunity to view data and statistics regarding how they spend their time watching videos or listening to music. Recaps have been offered by Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music for a few years, but YouTube previously had no such option. Now, the Google platform has responded to user requests with customized recaps that feature exciting content.

YouTube Recap has arrived at just the right time, since usage is at an all-time high. In October 2025, the average American spent about 45.7% of their total TV-watching time on streaming, and of that, a whopping 12.9% was spent on YouTube—more than Netflix and Disney+ combined (via Nielsen). This comes down to the spectacular variety of content that YouTube has to offer. There's something for everyone, and that's precisely what users' recaps will reflect.

YouTube Has Introduced YouTube Recap

YouTube officially rolled out YouTube Recap on December 2nd, 2025, and it will remain available until the end of the year. Individual recaps will highlight users' unique interests, using watch-history data to create snapshots of video deep dives. These are presented in the form of 12 "cards" that outline data like top-viewed channels, overarching interests, and the way a user's viewing habits have changed throughout 2025.

Another intriguing feature of YouTube Recap is the personality-type summary. Dependent on a user's watch history, they will be assigned a personality card, the most common of which are the Connector, the Sunshiner, and the Wonder Seeker. YouTube has indicated that the rarest personality types are the Philosopher and the Dreamer. All of these cards can be accessed right on YouTube.

How To View Your YouTube Recap

To find your YouTube Recap, you must be logged in on either your mobile device or desktop. On the YouTube mobile app, select the "You" tab, typically found in the bottom right corner of the screen. From there, a YouTube Recap banner should appear. Click on this to view the 12 recap cards and begin your overview of 2025!

On desktops, you can go directly to youtube.com/recap to find your YouTube Recap banner. Once you click, your slideshow will begin, allowing you to sit back and watch as YouTube shows you your top-visited channels and what viewership percentile you fall in for your favorite creators.

YouTube Recap is not available for everyone. Some regions and languages aren't included. Additionally, children's accounts or users below the age of consent in their specific region will not be offered a YouTube recap. Google Support has a more detailed outline of YouTube Recap restrictions here.

How To Share Your YouTube Recap

If you'd like to show your unique recap to friends, family, or the general public, YouTube makes it easy with a share button placed at the bottom of each card. Once selected, you will be given the choice to share your recap on specific platforms, send via text, or copy a link to share manually.

You can also save each YouTube Recap card to your computer or mobile device by clicking the save icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. It's essential to do this before January 1st, 2026, since the YouTube Recap feature will no longer be available past New Year's Eve. Saving your personality-type card or viewing history will allow you to compare your 2025 overview with next year's data, assuming YouTube keeps this feature going.

How To View & Share Your YouTube Music Recap

Share songs from YouTube Music to other platforms

Users with 10 or more listening hours will also have access to a YouTube Music Recap. This will be available in the YouTube Music app and will similarly feature a variety of cards detailing listening habits. You can see which artists and songs you have listened to the most, as well as take a deep dive into your favorite genres and podcasts.

Just as with the general YouTube Recap, the YouTube Music Recap can be found in the "You" tab of the mobile app. In your detailed outline, you can select the "Share" button at the bottom of each card to send your overview via social media, text, or a general link. You'll also have the option to save your YouTube Music Recap, but, once again, this feature won't be available after December 31st, 2025, and may not be offered to some viewers.
