Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman has proven to be one of the best coaches in all of college football over the course of his five-year tenure at the program. As a result, Freeman has emerged as a hot name in NFL head coaching searches, which he is admittedly quite honored by.
One of the many media personalities around the NFL to link Freeman as a potential candidate in the New York Giants head coaching search is Giants insider Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. Last month, Schwartz explained that many within the Giants organization hold Freeman in "high regard".
Thus far, we haven't seen anything from Freeman that would indicate that he has any interest in leaving for New York, or any other NFL head coaching job. Still, for Freeman, even being named as a person of interest for a team like the Giants is certainly a big honor.

In an interview with the New York Post on Tuesday, Freeman addressed the potential interest coming from the Giants, saying that he has a lot of "gratitude" for how he is regarded in New York.
"The gratitude you have, for one, even being mentioned by an organization like that. I got a lot of respect for all NFL teams, but the history of the Giants is tremendous,” Freeman said. “But it’s gratitude for me, it reminds me of the honor that I have to be in the position I have. And I’ve said that before. I use that to remind myself of the gratitude that I have for this position because you wouldn’t have said that statement if I didn’t have this job and we weren’t having success.”
While Freeman is grateful to have interest from a team like the Giants, Freeman insinuated that this interest only further reaffirms his appreciation for his current position with the Fighting Irish.
“The result of [success at Notre Dame] is having your name mentioned for a place like the New York Giants or any other major program,” Freeman added. “It’s humbling, but I always use it as a reminder to be grateful for what I have because if you’re not grateful for it, I often say you’re gonna lose it.”

Based on these comments, it sure doesn't sound like Freeman anticipates leaving for New York anytime soon despite the reported interest from the Giants.
Maybe that will change based on how Notre Dame's 2025 season ends up playing out. In the meantime, Freeman will sit back and await his team's fate when the final CFP bracket is revealed next week.
