A highly-regarded JUCO pass rusher has made it official with Florida State.

Jalen Anderson is a 6-foot-3, 241-pound defensive lineman who plays for Pearl River Community College. He’s considered the 5th-best JUCO player in the nation by 247Sports Composite, and the best edge rusher in the JUCO ranks.

He is originally from Louisiana and seemed to be hoping for LSU to invite him on board, but the Seminoles instead benefit from Lane Kiffin’s disinterest in Anderson.

Anderson originally chose Florida State on November 17 over three dozen other reported offers, including from Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Memphis, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia. He was previously committed to FIU before his recruitment took off and he opened things back up.

Anderson recorded 39 tackles (nine for loss) and 2.5 sacks last season as a freshman. This season, Anderson notched 41 tackles (11.5 for loss), seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception. He’ll be counted on to slide into the rotation quickly, as the Seminoles will need to replenish some of their edge depth next season.
