As some of the most interesting shows, Doc is inspired by real-life events that starts when Dr. Amy Larsen lost years of memory after a car crash. Known for her brilliance in her field despite her less than ideal bedside manners, the experience of having to slowly regain herself is both humbling and compelling.
As Fox tries to rebuild its scripted show portfolio, Doc plays a big part in its programming during the 2025-2026 TV cycle. But while the big three networks — CBS, ABC, and NBC — have the tendency to rely on established brands and tested formats, it is able to be more experimental with its offerings. In an already saturated medical drama sandbox, Doc stands out because of its clear and unique premise, which season 2 has been doing a good job developing.
Why Fox Is Not Airing New Episodes Of Doc Season 2 On December 2, 2025

Fox is not releasing an episode of Doc season 2 tonight because the show has officially entered its holiday break. Because of the way network TV shows are spread out for several months, almost all of the scripted shows are given a few weeks off for the cast and crew to be able to rest and celebrate the holidays properly. Instead, Doc season 2's timeslot will be replaced by a special presentation airing of TMZ Presents: TMZ's Most Outrageous Moments of 2025 (via TVInsider).
In the Doc season 2 fall finale, a lot happened to Amy, especially with regard to her complicated relationship with Jake. In the flashbacks, it was revealed that the pair worked closely to prevent a major outbreak of coronavirus in the hospital. Meanwhile, in the present day, the death of Jake's father paved the way for the couple to spend more time together. In the end, they finally got back together, which was a big win for those who root for them.
What To Expect From Doc Season 2, Episode 6 (& When Will It Return)?
Fox has already set Doc season 2's winter premiere for January 6, 2026. Because it's still several weeks away from premiering, the network has yet to release its official title, let alone its synopsis. That said, marketing for the show has rolled out the trailer for its much-awaited return. Sadly, it doesn't offer any details on what's next for Jake and Amy after they rekindled their romance, but it confirmed the return of Scott Wolf's Dr. Richard Miller.
The main villain of Doc season 1 was booted out of the hospital after he was exposed for his crimes. While Wolf's return has already been confirmed by the producers, hence expected, seeing him again and revealing that he wants his job back is an exciting development. Expect that more details about the Doc season 2 winter premiere will be released soon.
