There's a new Daredevil in Marvel Comics, with truly unique powers that reimagine Matt Murdock's iconic abilities like never before. That's because this new Man Without Fear isn't a man - he's one of the cosmic, godlike beings known as a Beyonder.

The Ultimate Universe's Daredevil Is a Godlike Beyonder

In today's Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1, Marvel fans meet the new Daredevil, aka the Beyonder Without Fear. As the Guardians of the Galaxy recruit heroes from across time and space, they encounter a Beyonder who sacrificed the majority of his cosmic powers to save a "stellar nursery," leaving him with 'just' thirteen senses.

In a fun gag, a 'blind' Beyonder still has cosmic senses far in excess of a human, and the Ultimate Daredevil perceives reality very differently. He's able to step outside comic panels as part of his "4D karate" and can unleash "reader-sense," which allows him to edit the comic's script even while he's living it (a pun on Matt Murdock's 'radar-sense.')

Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1 comes from the creative team of Deniz Camp, Alex Paknadel, Pat Boutin, Phil Noto, Francesco Manna, Lee Ferguson, Javier Pulido, Federico Blee, GURU-eFX, Erick Arciniega, Javier Pulido and Travis Lanham.

As the New Daredevil Arrives, Where Is Matt Murdock?

While this new Daredevil is a powerful force for good, fans may be wondering what happened to Matt Murdock. In the Ultimate Universe, the Maker traveled back through time to prevent the origins of various heroes who might have opposed his rise to power. Matt Murdock was one such hero, and in this world is a Catholic priest with no powers.

Our Take on the Ultimate Daredevil

While fans were skeptical about the Ultimate Universe's new Daredevil thanks to his retro-kitsch costume, the idea of a 'blind' Beyonder who still has many more senses than a human is a fun twist on the Daredevil mythos, and communicates the cosmic scale of the struggle against the Maker.

With the Maker's forces including the Hulk and his gamma-powered Immortal Weapons, Captain Britain's Black Crusade and the mutant-blood-empowered Emmanuel Da Costa, Ultimate Daredevil's powers will be badly needed, and his ability to 'rewrite' the thoughts of others could net the Ultimates some vital allies.

Marvel's Ultimate Universe imprint will permanently end following the Ultimate Endgame event, meaning anything could happen to these heroes. Hopefully, the new Ultimate Daredevil gets a chance to prove himself, unleashing his unique 'editing' powers against the Maker.
