Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reveals there are two players doubtful for the clash with West Ham on Thursday, but would not reveal who they are.

The Red Devils host the Hammers in the Premier League, looking to follow up on their win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

They will be without the injured pair of Harry Maguire (thigh) and Benjamin Sesko (knee), with Amorim confirming that both remain sidelined.

There is good news for Manchester United as Matheus Cunha has returned to training and is available to play on Thursday.

However, Amorim has thrown in something of a curveball by revealing there are two players in his squad who may or may not be ready to play.

The Portuguese coach does not want to say who they are as their availability will impact his tactics, so is keeping quiet for now.

‘We have two doubts for the game,’ Amorim told a pre-match press conference. ‘I will not say who today as we are going to change how we approach the game.

‘Let’s see if they can play tomorrow. The rest of the squad is good. Matheus is back but Harry and Sesko are still out.’

It is an intriguing approach from the Red Devils boss, not wanting to give anything away to his opposite number, Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Hammers will need every bit of help they can get after a poor start to the season which has seen them pick up just 11 points from 13 games and Espirito Santo replace Graham Potter.

Cunha returns after a head injury which saw him miss the defeat to Everton and the win over Crystal Palace and Amorim is pleased to have the Brazilian back.

The 26-year-old scored his first United goal in a win over Brighton shortly before suffering his recent injury, which Amorim hopes has taken some pressure off his shoulders.

‘He has more levels to go,’ said the manager. ‘He’s at a different club, different pressure, he was struggling because he was not scoring, he was thinking too much about the numbers but the influence he has in the team is important to us.’

Amorim also talked up 18-year-old talent Shea Lacey, who he says is ‘ready to play’ in the first team as he awaits his senior debut.

‘Try to explain every day how to play, if you’re comfortable and don’t have any doubts when you are playing that will help the kids,’ he said of the process of introducing academy talents.

‘Then to work the physicality, the speed of the pressure, the moments to have the ball and pass the ball is completely different to U21s.

‘He’ll have the chance, I don’t know, but he’s ready to play.’
