You can unlock Tressa in Octopath Traveler 0, since the playable character from the original entry in the series is making a comeback within the most recent installment. The newest game in the franchise offers a different take on the formula, with some changes to gameplay, story, and much more. The release of Octopath Traveler 0 represents a new era for Square Enix’s franchise, should the company decide to implement these changes in future titles.
The game has over 30 playable characters that you can recruit, and you’ll build teams of eight characters rather than parties of four. This drastically changes how you approach combat. In Screen Rant’s review of Octopath Traveler 0, we praise this change, inspired by the mobile game Champions of the Continent. While there are new characters to use, there are also returning units from the very first installment, and one of them is Tressa.
Where To Find Tressa In Octopath Traveler 0
Tressa’s Location Requires Some Progress In The Campaign

The side quest that allows you to unlock Tressa is located in the city of Rippletide in Octopath Traveler 0. This city is, theoretically, accessible since the start of the game, but the region that surrounds it has an elevated danger level of 20. I made my way to Rippletide after defeating the three bosses in the campaign: Tytos, Herminia, and Auguste. After doing so, I initiated the Finale quest, which led me to Rippletide.
In the far east corner of the city, you will find an NPC facing some boxes outside his house. This is Tressa’s father. By talking to him, you will initiate Tressa’s quest. If you agree to help her, you will then meet with Tressa in Theatropolis, where you’ll witness her helping some NPCs, one of whom is being sabotaged by a thug.
The level 24 quest features a fight with two mini bosses, though it’s quite easy to get by if you’ve progressed through the campaign and are around level 22. This is especially true if you have unlocked the Divine Rings from at least Tytos and Herminia.
After defeating them, you’ll return to Rippletide so that Tressa can speak to her parents, and she will offer to join your party as a traveling Merchant. Should you accept, you will unlock Tressa.
Should You Use Tressa In Your Party In Octopath Traveler 0?
The Merchant Character Offers Great Support Abilities

Tressa is a superb support unit in Octopath Traveler 0, as she is capable of donating BP and obtaining extra money from battles. She can also stand as a physical striker, depending on how you build her, which is great for stun-lock parties. While Tressa’s full potential from Octopath Traveler is impossible in Octopath Traveler 0, given the structure of the game and its job system, she is still a worthwhile character to have in your party.
If you don’t particularly enjoy Stia and already have another healer on the team, like Macy or Ophilia, you can swap out Stia for Tressa. Similarly, you can still use Stia and put Tressa in Macy’s place, for example. This merchant character from the original game can be a boon as you explore Octopath Traveler 0 in search of more money to upgrade your gear or purchase items.
