It’s been estimated that there are more than 24,000 pubs and restaurants in London. Safe to say, you won’t ever find yourself short of options.

But what you might struggle with is bagging yourself a hot table, with people often queueing for hours to get into some of the city’s most popular spots.

Pizza lovers have been waiting up to five hours for a slice of Crisp Pizza at The Marlborough, and lines still form for Dishoom, even though it’s been open for 14 years – people just can’t get enough!

Another foodie haven Londoners can’t get enough of is Padella, which has long wait times at both its Borough Market and Shoreditch locations.

But there’s good news for pasta lovers, as a third restaurant is in the works.

Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda, who opened the first Padella in 2016, have announced they’ll be bringing their award-winning grub to London’s West End in Spring 2026, opening a brand new site in Soho.

Located on Kingly Street, the third Padella will have space for 80 customers and the menu is set to feature their classic dishes like Pappardelle with Beef Shin Ragu and Pici Cacio e Pepe.

But that’s not all – they’ll also be serving up new recipes that highlight the best of British produce, alongside drinks and desserts.

Spread across two floors, the new restaurant is designed by Lisa Helmanis from DAY STUDIO and Dada Stileman (Stileman Lighting). Expect plenty of warm wood, formica and chrome, as well as a luxurious bar and dining room space that ‘pays homage to the 1960s loungers once scattered across Soho’.

There will also be a ‘secret, hidden room’, for private dinners of up to eight guests.

Speaking about the new restaurant, Tim and Jordan said: ‘We have always felt the energy of Soho was a perfect fit for Padella, and we’ve spent a long time looking for the right space.

‘Bringing our fresh pasta to Kingly Street is something we are both incredibly excited about, and we hope it becomes a place where people can drop in for a quick plate or settle in for a long evening.’

Why is Padella so popular?

The pasta bar has garnered a cult following, with many people proclaiming it the ‘best’ place in London for pasta.

There are thousands of reviews for the Borough Market and Shoreditch restaurants on Google, with the food being hailed ‘fantastic’, ‘authentic’, ‘impeccable’ and ‘incredible’ in some.

Mark Bowie gave the Borough Market site five stars, saying: ‘The food here is excellent, quickly freshly prepared and served by knowledgeable, friendly staff who offer brilliant recommendations and know when to give you space to enjoy your meal.

‘There’s a lovely ambience here, it’s nicely trimmed up for a small place, the space is used very well to help it feel cosy and have a nice buzz without feeling too crowded. I think it’s one of those places where nothing needs to change, it’s just perfect the way it is.’

Similarly, Hatty Jackson had the ‘most incredible experience’ eating at Padella, commenting: ‘The food was some of the best pasta and tiramisu we’ve ever had. The service was great. The atmosphere was perfect. An all-around wonderful experience and would 100% return for more.’

And a reviewer known only as Lily, agreed, posting: ‘Quite literally the best pasta I have ever tasted in London. The prices are amazing and the quality/flavour of the pastas are incredible!’

Christopher Keem thought it was ‘fresh pasta heaven’, adding: ‘Padella is worth every minute of the wait. Simple menu, bold flavours – the Pici Cacio e Pepe is an absolute knockout. Fresh, hand-rolled pasta, buzzing atmosphere and prices that don’t puch your wallet. This place gets Italian food. Go early, get in line and thank me later.’

The only real downside customers note is the fact that it can take ‘on average about an hour’ to get a table.

Padella doesn’t take reservations, instead it uses a QR code that lets customers join a virtual queue – this means, you don’t have to stand and wait in line, as you are given a virtual place and are informed when your table is ready, so you can go off and do something else in the meantime.
