Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has been speaking on the race to become Premier League champions this season.

Are Chelsea there yet? Will they be up there challenging with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City come the end of the season?

EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea looking at shock move for Manchester United defender!!

They are currently third in the league but they are right on the tails of both Arsenal, who are currently top of the league, and Manchester City, who won last night and are second in the league.

Chelsea of course got an important draw against Arsenal on Sunday night and would have felt like if they kept 11 players on the pitch, they could have actually gone on to win this one because even with one less player, I thought Chelsea were the better side.

Chelsea did need goalkeeper Robert Sanchez though to help them see out the game, making some big saves along the way. And Maresca has been speaking about how his goalkeeper has been improving lately, and nobody should be disagreeing with that statement.

If Chelsea win tonight against Leeds United, they will keep firmly on track with the two clubs ahead of them and keep distance on those below.

As cited by The Evening Standard, Maresca said:

“The teams that are able to be consistent in December, in January, are the teams that go in for [it] very much. They’re going to be there for the title.

“That’s why now the main focus is trying to be consistent in the next month. And then after that, if we are there [near the top], we want to be there and we compete in case we’re going to set different targets.

“We are in December. If, in February or March, we are where we are now, we are going to be title contenders.

“But if in February or March we are not there, [we are not]. So for me it’s too early.

“If we are able to survive and be there in February or March, for sure we’re going to be there [among the contenders]. But now, I don’t know where we’re going to be in February.”
