Angel City has announced a contract extension with midfielder Nealy Martin through the 2027 season. Martin was previously signed through 2026 and was traded to Angel City on September 9, 2025.

“My short time in LA has made me even more excited for the future of this club. I see the vision that Alex [Straus] and this team have, and I’m fully bought into it,” said Martin. “I can’t wait to execute that vision to the best of my ability, for this city and for our supporters. I’m excited to continue what we’ve built during my time here, and I can’t wait to do it with the best team.”

Nealy Martin is renown for having played as an emergency goalkeeper in the final minutes of the 2023 NWSL Championship with NJ/NY Gotham FC.

Martin appeared in all seven of Angel City’s remaining matches and the full 90 minutes in six of them both as a midfielder and defender.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined the NWSL in 2021 from Alabama Crimson Tide and has made 92 appearances across five seasons with three different NWSL clubs, Racing Louisville, Gotham FC and Angel City.

Martin’s play has also caught the attention of the USWNT which earned her a call-up to a training camp with the USWNT in January 2025, though she has not appeared with the squad.
