GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Winter sports begin along the Western Slope. The sports begin with Grand Junction heading to Rifle for a girls’ basketball game Tuesday night in Rifle.
It is the first game of the season for both schools. The Tigers won last year’s meeting 63-35.

Rifle finished with a 3-20 record last season and were fifth in the league. The Bears next game is Thursday against Basalt.
Grand Junction will head to Golden for its second game the same day.
More than just basketball, Palisade wrestling prepared for its first match of the season. Their first match is Wednesday night against Grand County.
The Bulldogs are ranked sixth in the CHSAA preseason poll for 4A boys’ wrestling.
Palisade finished eighth in the state last season. Kadin Mulford and Teagan Young were state runner ups in the individual tournament.
