Isekai has quickly become one of the most popular genres of anime, and one series looks to turn the genre on its head. Over the past decade, the popularity of isekai exploded. It's one of the fastest-rising genres in anime, competing with traditional shōnen as the most popular of them all.
Isekai works well because of how many different forms it can take. At its core, the isekai genre is centered around a character from Earth being transported or reincarnated into a new world. After that, every series is free to do their own thing.
One prospective series is set to hit the ground running with one of the most refreshing takes on isekai in a while. Because there are so many new isekai series out, the genre can feel overdone, and that's why this series is set to standout from its competition.
Isekai Is One of the Biggest Genres in Anime
It's Never Been More Popular Than it Is Now
Lord of Mysteries
Isekai has become a massive genre thanks to a couple of amazing series. Over the last few years, there hasn't been an isekai series quite as exciting as Lord of Mysteries. It's starting its own trends, reinvigorating the tired genre, and most notably, putting China on the map in the world of anime.
Lord of Mysteries features Zhou Mingrui as a normal Chinese youth suddenly transported to a gothic, steampunk world filled with magic and monsters. In his new world, he's taken over the body of Klein Moretti, and he's working hard to find out how to get home.
The isekai genre has become oversaturated with average series, and that's why franchises like Lord of Mysteries are such a breath of fresh air. They're looking to add something new to the genre, creating brand-new storylines, intriguing worlds, and exceptional characters.
A Gundam-esque Isekai Anime Is on the Way
One of the Freshest Ideas in the Genre in a While
In the same vein as Lord of Mysteries, Mobile Reincarnation looks to bring something new to the isekai table, marrying two popular genres. It's an isekai series that looks to put the character from Earth into a giant mech, merging the mech and isekai genres masterfully.
There are a ton of great mech anime series, but none that have also incorporated isekai elements. The author behind Mobile Reincarnation, Shoji Gatoh, has also authored Full Metal Panic!, Amagi Brilliant Park, and MOON FIGHTERS!
Mobile Reincarnation has the potential to bring even more nuance and enjoyment to isekai, and it couldn't come at a better time. There are more isekai series than ever, but few try to bring something fresh to the table like Mobile Reincarnation.
