As usual before a Champions League game, Arsenal held an open training session in front of the media on Tuesday, prior to Wednesday’s match at home to Bayern Munich.

The big news from the session was that Martin Odegaard was involved, with the midfielder closing in on a comeback from his knee injury.

Gabriel Jesus was also in training, though the expectation is that he’ll play in behind-closed-doors friendlies before being passed fit for a competitive comeback.

In other positive news, Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori were both involved in the session. There had been some concern after the players were brought off early on Sunday, but it seems they’re alright.

All the same, youth defender Marli Salmon was called up to take part in the session, so he could provide cover on the bench if needed.

The bad news is that Viktor Gyokeres wasn’t involved, suggesting he’s still not in line for a comeback just yet. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhaes also remain absent, but that’s less surprising given they aren’t expected back this month.

One other piece of news from the session is that Max Dowman didn’t take part.

Dowman has been a regular in the first-team training sessions and matchday squads for the last few months, but with other players returning his inclusion isn’t as vital at the moment. The 15-year-old will need a break from time to time, and this is seemingly the right occasion to give him one.
