By Maria Azzurra VolpeShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberIn a viral TikTok video, a tiny senior dog gets swept out of his front yard by a strong blast of wind—what happens next has the internet in stitches.
The hilarious video, shared on Wednesday under the username @lineemf, shows the senior dog hanging out in his yard when the wind suddenly bursts the door open. Curious, the pup checks the outside, clearly not meaning to leave his yard.
However, another even stronger blasts of wind hits the door from the opposite side, locking the pup out, leaving him stranded in the streets.
“POV [point of view]: your geriatric (16) senile, nearly blind, nearly deaf dog gets swept out the yard,” the caption reads.
Thankfully, the pup wasn’t hurt and was also found pretty quickly by his owners who acted as soon as they realized what had happened.
...“After a frantic search by my brother and I of our neighborhood, he sauntered out of the depths of our neighbors' yard 10 mins later…” the caption continues.
Much like humans, as dogs age they often lose hearing or vision. Vision loss may be indicated by bumping into furniture, difficulty finding toys or food, cloudy eyes or reluctance to explore. Common causes include cataracts, glaucoma or progressive retinal atrophy.
Hearing loss may show as failing to respond to familiar sounds, deeper sleeping, startlement or clinginess. Causes may include nerve degeneration, chronic ear infections or side effects of medication.
If signs arise, a veterinarian should examine the dog. Owners can help aging pets by keeping the home layout simple and consistent, avoiding obstacles, maintaining familiar floor surfaces or rugs, and adding scent or tactile markers.
Verbal commands remain useful for dogs with hearing loss; for visually impaired dogs gentle guidance, touch and scent help them navigate.
With patient care, adjustments and love, many senior dogs adapt well and continue to enjoy comfortable, safe lives—despite limitations, they continue to bond deeply with owners.

One user, Lacraig, commented: “If you didn’t have this video you would have been wondering how he got out for YEARS.”
Amaris said: “Plot twist he actually opened it with his mind and it was his plan all along.”
RodeoMomma added: “The gate was like yep, it’s time for you to go. All them times you hiked your leg on me….bu bye!”
