Lewis Barton’s (Bradley Riches) arrival in Emmerdale brought a spark of joy to the village that has been infections amongst the villagers, and for one in particular.

It’s been a beautiful thing to see him and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) grow closer.

Recent months have seen Vinny’s life turn upside down when, while engaged to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), he began to question his sexuality.

This led him to attempt to seek answers online, which saw him meet a man called Mike, who lured in Vinny under the false pretence of having gone through the same thing, only to beat him and extort him for money.

Eventually, this came back to Gabby, and between the two of them the decided that this was a deal breaker and their marriage was off.

Vinny then moved into the Dale’s biggest Batchelor pad, where his friendship with Lewis has flourished.

Lewis has proven himself to be kind, thoughtful, and ever smiley, a perfect fit for vulnerable Vinny. A nice guy meets a nice guy for once.

Lewis has his own battles, faced with living with neurodivergence in a world that is not always accepting. It was recently revealed that Lewis is often forced to mask, being triggered by loud noises and lots of people. This has meant he’s had to lean on his friends.

Vinny has been right there, particularly after the house party the lads had, which left Lewis in a state of overwhelm.

As Vinny listened, Lewis explained to his housemate that when he’s struggling, his senses are heightened – noises seem louder, colours seem too bright, his own heartbeat begins to upset him.

Vinny, an equally kind and understanding good-hearted soul, was eager to lend Lewis his ear and a shoulder to cry on.

But with Lewis also being super sensitive to relationships, he realised what was happening and quickly broke away.

It seems though that Vinny is wanting to explore things further with Lewis and is keen to get to know the café owner better.

He creates a moment when he and Lewis can be alone, but his plan is thwarted when Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) gatecrashes. Vinny is miffed at his pal.
