He's back with the Los Angeles Clippers, playing by far the smallest role he ever has.

And on Monday night, CP3 gave fans a bit of a throwback.

A few years ago, he hit a 3-pointer in a conference finals game to cut the deficit to 42. It got shared with the idea being that Paul had hit a massive shot, even though it had no bearing on the final outcome of a blowout.

Back in present day, Paul was suiting up for the Clippers in a blowout loss to the Miami Heat. And there Paul was, hitting a 3-pointer, this one to pull within 43.

The margin there really epitomizes this Clippers season.

They brought in about as much veteran talent as you can think of. But it turns out that the veterans may be becoming a bit too veteran to still win a lot of NBA games.

The Clippers are out of a playoff position and don't look like a team that could all of a sudden turn it around.

That may leave Paul to hit some meaningless 3s in what is shaping up as a much less exciting end to his career than he may have wanted.
