It's beginning to sound like the New Orleans Saints could be without Justin Reid for some time. The veteran safety left Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins with a knee injury after getting banged up on a tackle on the first play from scrimmage; he tried to stay in but couldn't go, and the team said he was questionable to return before later ruling him out altogether. Head coach Kellen Moore didn't have a positive update for Reid's status the next day.
"He's got his knee. We'll see how that progresses," Moore told reporters on Monday. "Obviously, potential for some missed time there, but we'll let it progress."

He's logged more than 90% of snaps in all but two games, having exited this Dolphins game after just two snaps and taking nine reps against the New York Giants. In his absence, look for veteran backup Terrell Burgess to step up.
Reid would be the fourth team captain to be sidelined or let go this year. Former Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy is on injured reserve, while wide receiver Brandin Cooks and kicker Blake Grupe have both been waived in recent weeks. If he does miss time, they'll have to look elsewhere for experienced leadership in the secondary. Here's hoping he can get back on the field sooner rather than later.
