It's hard to think of another series with a pedigree as respected as Grand Theft Auto. Not only do the numbered games in the series garner all sorts of acclaim from critics and fans alike, but they also sell incredibly well, lighting up charts generation after generation.

While we wait to see what kind of impact Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to make, we have plenty of older games in the series to go back to. That includes Vice City, with this mod that upgrades Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition fan creation with RTX Remix compatibility.

If you've never waded into the deep pool of Grand Theft Auto mods, you may want to strap in. The newest iteration of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition has a ton of layers, and it all started with the Nextgen Edition mod. In short, a small team was able to bring Vice City to life in GTA 4, with all the technical bells and whistles that entail in the RAGE engine.

Since then, an HD texture pack has been released for the mod, and most recently, support for RTX Remix Compatibility has been added. When it all comes together, this Frankenstein's monster for a mod ends up providing a stunning new look at the world of Vice City.

The reason fans love this mod is that it brings Vice City into the modern era, aesthetically, while maintaining a level of stability that the new official remaster did not with 2023's "Definitive Edition."

Given how many people have responded positively to these Grand Theft Auto: Vice City enhancements, it's safe to say that fans are still hungry for full-on remakes of old GTA games. While Rockstar has generally been nailing it at release with GTA games, its remasters and re-releases have left a lot to be desired.

Despite all the hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6, there are myriad fans of every numbered entry, and any high-effort remake that's stable on PC at launch will be met with excitement. Ideally, once GTA 6 is finally released, Rockstar can get to work on bringing back the classics in a better format than the Definitive Editions.
