As we creep closer and closer to the mammoth collision of two soap titans, fans of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are practically salivating in anticipation for the soap event of the century: Corriedale.
Soap bosses have been keeping their cards incredibly close to their chests, teasing fans clamouring for the tea with tiny Easter eggs, while said fans have been cooking up their own theories.
Pictures of insidious killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) have started turning up on walls in the police station, while wedding planner Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is lamenting having to deal with a Manchester-based bridezilla, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney).
But now, finally, there’s something to really whet viewers appetites with the first official teaser!

The brand spanking new trailer reveals the carnage caused by a multi-vehicle pile up on a stormy country road near Hotten as the two worlds collide, while desperate voices can be heard calling for help as the emergency services arrive, with soap bosses promising: ‘The aftermath of the crash gives rise to fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, closely-guarded secrets, and lies.’
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), Dr. Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) can all be heard pleading for assistance, confirming their presence in the crossover episode alongside previously-announced cast, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).
Though we can announce the exciting cast additions, we’re unable to tell you any more about what has brought the Weatherfield residents into the orbit of Emmerdale, though we can give you a glimpse of the new logo created for the event!

The huge Corriedale episode marks the beginning of a new era in soapland, as it heralds the debut of both shows new transmission patterns, in which, from Monday to Friday, Emmerdale will air at 8pm and Coronation Street from 8:30pm.
Previously, Iain MacLeod, ITV’s Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, teased what’s to come in the special episode: ‘There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular.
‘And that’s before we’ve even got to all the brilliant transpennine interactions between characters from the different shows! As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.’

Corrie boss, Kate Brooks, also previously spoke on the upcoming crossover.
‘We’ve got a brilliant director. The script’s brilliant. The actors are loving it, because it’s so different and unique from what they’ve ever done before. I’ve been on set a few times.
‘The mood and the camaraderie is really infectious. People are loving working with people they have not worked with before. It’s just dead exciting. I just can’t help but imagine what my mum’s gonna be like watching this episode.

‘Even if I didn’t work in soap I’d be so excited for this because it’s just a soap fan’s dream. I think what we’ve done really well is make sure that the episode encapsulates what makes both shows unique, but also that universal appeal that soap is brilliant telly and it’s soaptastic.
‘So I think that those combinations are going to be a real treat for fans. Everyone’s worked so, so hard on this as well behind the scenes. Obviously, the cast have been amazing, brilliant.

‘But behind the scenes, people have worked really hard. It’s been quite a feat logistically to get everything in the right place. So I just think, as a testament to how hard and how passionate all the people are behind the scenes, from schedulers to crew and DOPs and directors and ADs, it is just a testament to the fact that they love what they do, and everyone has put their heart and soul into it.’
