By Michael GallagherShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberShedeur Sanders’ second NFL start wasn’t quite as successful as his first, but head coach Kevin Stefanski seems to like what he’s seen from the rookie fifth-round pick through two games.
Stefanski named Sanders Cleveland’s starter for its Week 14 game against the Tennessee Titans next weekend, meaning fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel has at least one more week of riding the bench after starting six straight games from Week 5 through Week 11 before suffering a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 16.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that the Browns were impressed enough by Sanders’ first start — a 24-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders two weeks ago — that they’re open to letting him audition he rest of the season for the starting job in 2026.

“Sanders has the opportunity not only to start again Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers but also to play well enough to continue earning starts for the rest of this season,” Schefter wrote.
“The Browns are open to giving Sanders an extended look for the rest of this season, just as fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel got in the first half of this season, sources told ESPN on Saturday. But much of that decision will be dictated by how Sanders plays, starting Sunday.”
But if you’re to believe Gabriel’s fiancée, Zo Caswell, the sentiment in the locker room about who the team’s starting quarterback should be is much different than the one presented by Schefter.
“Everyone in the building wants him to play. But you wouldn't know that bc you've never played in the nfl or been a (coach) right 😂,” Caswell stated in a since-deleted comment on TikTok.

Her comments struck a cord with many Browns fans who've been told all season the organization is divided on whether Gabriel or Sanders should be starting.
Caswell also added more fuel to the Gabriel-Sanders controversy when she posted a TikTok video before Sunday’s game against the 49ers with the caption “Browns lost whats new 😂,” which many took to mean she was rooting for Sanders to fail.
She defended herself both in the comment section and on her TikTok story.
“To the people commenting and DMing me disgusting things, you are insanely uninformed and have no clue what you are talking about. I support the Browns WHOEVER is playing 100%. I would joke about us losing when Dillon was playing or not. Please take a joke and calm down. Thanks.”
