There is a lot the Rams can learn from their Week 13 loss to the Panthers.

The Los Angeles Rams dropped their first loss since Oct. 2 when the Carolina Panthers beat them in Week 13.

The offense scored 28 points, but the defense couldn't stop the Panthers' offense and quarterback Matthew Stafford had an uncharacteristically poor game with three turnovers. Additionally, the loss dropped the Rams out of the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and their 9-3 record is tied with the Seattle Seahawks for the top of the NFC West.

Despite the loss, Rams edge rusher Byron Young thinks the team should take some positives from the shocking upset. He called the game a "wake-up call" and said he was "glad that it happened" so the team can learn from their mistakes.

“I just feel like this a wake-up call,” Young said. “You know, something that you just got to learn from. I definitely think it’s something that we needed. I don’t look at as a bad thing. I just look at it that it is motivation. It is something I’m glad that it happened. We need this.”

This is probably the best way for the Rams to look at the loss, considering their standing in the NFC with five games to go. It's also similar to what head coach Sean McVay said after the game, so his mindset is likely trickling down to the players.

There wasn't just one issue in this game, though. The team wasn't clicking like it had been during the six-game winning streak—especially on defense. Young was the only player to look good in his role, as the veteran led the team with eight tackles (five solo) and one of the team's two sacks.

The Rams' schedule doesn't get any easier in the final five weeks, though. L.A. still faces the playoff-hungry Detroit Lions, has a rematch with the Seattle Seahawks and still has to play the Arizona Cardinals twice. They'll also be playing to better their second first-round pick when they face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17.
