The kicking game is never that easy to figure out. Cut one kicker, and the next may be no better.

But the Indianapolis Colts may soon be looking at a change in regards to Michael Badgley.

Head coach Shane Steichen was asked about the possibility of cutting Badgley on Monday, and he deferred to GM Chris Ballard.

ESPN's Stephen Holder writes, "I do, however, expect them to seriously consider a change there. Stay tuned."

Badgley is 10-for-11 on field goals with the Colts, but he has missed three extra points (18-for-21).

The Colts are only using Badgley because starting kicker Spencer Shrader got injured.

There aren't a ton of options out there in free agency as NFL teams have a tendency to mostly recycle failed kickers in hoping one of them sticks.

Indianapolis is in a rut, though, and could look to make a change just for the sake of making a change. Sometimes, the vibes just need an improvement.

Badgley doesn't have a strong enough pedigree to stick by through thick and thin.

NFL teams often have kickers in for workouts on Tuesday each week. If the Colts bring a few promising legs in on Tuesday, expect a decent chance that one will sign before leaving town.

Indy's margin for error has thinned out from the point that they were leading the AFC just a few weeks ago. They need to have a reliable kicker down the stretch.
