Shedeur Sanders made his second career NFL start on Sunday as the Cleveland Browns fell to the visiting San Francisco 49ers with a 26-8 final score.

Sanders, the Browns' fifth-round rookie, finished the game with 149 yards and one touchdowns — completing 16 of his 25 pass attempts.

Over his first two starts in Cleveland, Sanders has yet to develop chemistry with the Browns' leading wide receiver option: Jerry Jeudy. The veteran pass catcher has just four receptions on seven targets over the last two games, collecting 55 yards and zero touchdowns. He also has a few dropped passes and a fumble.

Jeudy was visibly frustrated with Sanders as the two teammates got into a spirited conversation on the Browns' sideline.

Video of this sideline altercation went viral on social media.

Sanders addressed this lack of chemistry when speaking with reporters after the game.

"As players and as teammates we have to be able to gel with each other and be comfortable with each other in every situation. That takes time," Sanders said. "This team is not going to be a microwave team... It's going to take time to be able to develop that chemistry with everybody, to be on the same page with Jerry [Jeudy]. Of course we want to be able to get him the ball, but you've got to understand it takes time. I'm more of a trust person... We have to spend time on task."

Sanders took accountability after the Browns' ninth loss of the 2025 NFL season.

"Obviously we lost, so I ain't play well," Sanders said. "There's definitely things on film I'm going to look back and want to get back and want to see but at least moving forward I know what we could do differently going about the week and being able to get fully, fully prepared for every possibility."
