One of the Spartans' in-state commitments in the 2026 class has announced he still intends to sign with Michigan State later this week despite the recent coaching change.
Tristan Comer of Freeland, Mich. announced on Monday morning that his commitment to Michigan State "hasn't changed" and he still plans to sign with the Spartans later this week. Comer's re-commitment to the Spartans comes after a whirlwind of news on Sunday when Michigan State fired head coach Jonathan Smith, and reports are out that former Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald will be hired to replace Smith.

Comer has been verbally committed to the Spartans since June. He committed to Michigan State over notable offers from Northwestern, West Virginia and Oregon State.
A number of Michigan State commitments have came out in the last 24 hours to either reconfirm their commitment to the Spartans or open back up their recruitment. The early signing period opens this week so there should be a lot of news on the recruiting trail for the Spartans over the next few days.
