Cardiff City midfielder Ryan Wintle says the style of play introduced by head coach Brian Barry-Murphy has been "perfect" for the squad.

The Bluebirds returned to the top of League One with a 3-0 win over Mansfield on Saturday afternoon, with Will Fish, Yousef Salech and Cian Ashford all scoring.

Wintle has twice been loaned out during his four years at Cardiff, but says he is now enjoying his role as one of the senior members of the squad despite being just 28 years-old.

"We've got a really talented group, everyone wants to learn," said Wintle.

"I think you'd probably say it [Barry-Murphy's system] is perfect for every player in the squad really.

"The belief that we have in each other, every day working, we've got a proper philosophy where maybe we've not had that before.

"Everyone knows their role and if you don't do it you're not going to play, it's as simple as that.

"Like I said before we've got a young group, everyone's ready to learn and then you've got a few more experienced ones like myself, hopefully I can help with the experience that I probably have now."

Stevenage's goalless draw with Wigan means the Bluebirds begin December top of the league, as they look to bounce straight back to the Championship following last season's relegation.

Wintle says the Cardiff squad is the most talented in the division, but they must be consistent if they are to win promotion.

"I think you see at the top of the league there's clubs up there that you probably wouldn't have expected to start a season and credit to them you know," said Wintle.

"We probably should have more points than we've got, but we've also been lucky in some games so it is swings and roundabouts.

"As long as we do our job we aren't really looking at anyone else.

"We know we've got the most quality in the league and we have just got to make sure that we show it every week and we'll be where we want to be at the end of the year."
