The Kansas City Chiefs officially welcomed running back Dameon Pierce to the practice squad last week. He made his first appearance with the team at last Tuesday’s practice ahead of the Week 13 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the addition of Pierce to the team during his press conference before Pierce’s first practice.

“That’s the main thing right now, just get in and learn what we’re doing, and then we will take it from there,” said Reid, “He’s (Dameon Pierce) been productive and is a good player. (General Manager) Brett (Veach) is always doing a nice job of finding guys and adding them to the roster. We’ll just see – play it by ear and see how it goes here.”

The former Houston Texans standout is wearing the No. 34 jersey, previously worn by veteran running back Samaje Perine and notable names like Deneric Prince and Darwin Thompson. The 25-year-old has 10 rushes for 26 yards over four games with the Texans this year before being released.

Pierce finished the 2024 season with 40 carries for 293 yards and two touchdowns. His most notable year to date was his rookie season in 2022, when he had over 1,100 yards from scrimmage.
