Cristian Chivu is working to get Inter Milan midfielder Andy Diouf back on track after a lackluster start in Serie A.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Chivu’s tactical experiment against Pisa yesterday could pay off in the long run.

Inter signed Andy Diouf from Lens in late August after failing to convince Roma to sell Manu Kone.

However, the Frenchman has struggled in the early stages of his Serie A career, quickly falling out of favor at San Siro.

Indeed, he has only made four cameo appearances in the league this season, totaling just 59 minutes.

Diouf came on as a second-half substitute in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Pisa, replacing Luis Henrique on the right wing.

With Inter still waiting for Denzel Dumfries to recover from an ankle injury, there’s a vacant spot on the flank.

However, Henrique failed to live up to the billing at the Arena Garibaldi, as Chivu took him off midway through the second half.

Despite arriving at San Siro as a midfielder, Diouf impressed as a makeshift wingback.
