Tate is the lone Pensacola area football team still playing as it will play Dr. Joaquin Garcia in the 4A-7A Florida Invitational Tournament championship at the Range at HG Morse Stadium at the Villages Charter School on Thursday.

Pensacola Catholic was the last area team in the state playoffs before losing at Bolles in the Region 1-2A championship on Nov. 28.
Basketball teams clashed at holiday tournaments, while a couple soccer teams squeezed in a few more games before Thanksgiving. Girls wrestling got underway lasy week and boys wrestling starts competitions on Monday.
Even with the holiday, there’s still enough nominees for boys and girls athlete of the week polls for Nov. 24-29. As always, we need you to vote on the top boys and girls athlete in the Pensacola area.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementLast week Pensacola Catholic basketball’s Sam Quebedeaux won the boys award, while Gulf Breeze cross country’s Kenna Borras won the girls award. Quebedeaux received 78.92 percent of the vote, while Borras received 53.21 percent of the vote.
Voting closes at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the winners will be announced each Monday after the poll closes. Each weekly winner will be awarded a PNJ Athlete of the Week shirt provided by BSN SPORTS. An athlete can only win one time per season.
Nominees will be accepted via phone or email, but the poll is decided by PNJ staff. Send nominations by Sunday night.

Jada Clardy, Booker T. Washington: Clardy finished with 16 points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals in the Wildcats 51-39 win over Orange Park on Nov. 25, then poured in 28 points in a 45-36 win over the First Academy on Nov. 26. Both games were at the Insider Exposure Thanksgiving Classic in Jacksonville.
Randi Kemp, West Florida: Kemp recorded a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds, along with two assists and two steals in the Jaguars 60-37 loss to Orange Park on Nov. 24 at the Insider Exposure Thanksgiving Classic in Jacksonville.
Wrestling
Camdyn Elliott, Gulf Breeze: Elliott went 4-0 and won the 115-pound bracket at the Flagler Rotary Invitational on Nov. 25, winning every match via bonus points.
