MLB Trade Rumors | Charlie Wright: The Yankees have a decision to make with their outfield prospects, once they’re done making a decision about their major-league outfield. Jasson Domínguez and Spencer Jones are already going to be hard-pressed to both find time in the big leagues with only one spot open in the outfield at the moment, and while Domínguez was with the Yankees throughout 2025 he slid into a quasi-fourth outfielder role as Trent Grisham got more and more runtime in center field. Wright spends some time to play out the scenarios where New York either trades one of their young outfielders, trades the other one, or decides to hold onto both of them.

NY Daily News | James O’Connell: The free agent market is still wide open, and that includes all three of the big-name Japanese players posted over from NPB this year. The Yankees have been linked to them all with some variation in interest, but there’s a growing feeling that the Yankees are going to push to get one of them. Both Hal Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman have commented recently on building some Japanese representation on the team again, as they’ve been without a player from one of the biggest markets in the global game since Masahiro Tanaka went back home following the 2020 season. That landmark contract Tanaka signed at the time came all the way back in 2014, and New York could get themselves back in the Japanese market and attract future stars if they, say, landed Tatsuya Imai to renovate their rotation. Ball’s in your court, Cash, by all means make it happen.

MLB.com | Thomas Harrigan: Outside of the top free agent of the winter, Kyle Tucker, there’s a high degree of volatility performance-wise from most of the other marquee names that could scare some teams off, wind up letting some teams get away with a steal, or drag things out as agents play the waiting game for their clients to get a significant deal on the table. Two of the Yankees’ free agents that they’re still interested in re-signing are among this category, with Cody Bellinger’s disastrous Dodger ending overshadowing the fact that he’s sandwiched a so-so 2024 between standout 2023 and ‘25 campaigns while Devin Williams went through one of the most turbulent roller coaster seasons we’ve seen in a minute from an established closer like him. While they’re less likely targets, Zac Gallen and Bo Bichette have both been tied to the Yankees in the past and are among the list of names that Harrigan sees as a risky option for some team out there to gamble on.
