After the San Francisco 49ers (8-4) defeated the Carolina Panthers (6-6) at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on "Monday Night Football," legendary Iowa football tight end George Kittle had a retaliatory message for "Bussin' With The Boys" host Will Compton.

Compton, a former Nebraska linebacker and nine-year NFL vet, attempted to trash talk Kittle and the Hawkeyes ahead of Iowa's rivalry date at Nebraska this coming Friday in the battle for the Heroes Trophy. Compton tried FaceTiming Kittle on game day and suffice it to say that Kittle didn't take so kindly to it.

In his postgame interview on SportsCenter with anchor Scott Van Pelt, Kittle expressed his displeasure with Compton's antics, unleashing on Compton in front of the national viewing audience.

"Hey, Will Compton. Didn't really appreciate your voice memo on the day of my 'Monday Night Football' game talking crap to me about Nebraska-Iowa. Didn't settle with me. You know what? I didn't like it. That's the type of thing Nebraska does. They take cheap shots. Hey, I'm preparing for a 'Monday Night Football' game on national television, and you're coming to me about Nebraska-Iowa?

"That means you're scared. You're terrified. You lost by 30 at Penn State? They just fired their coach. You lost by 30? Are you kidding me? Iowa is gonna come in there, run the ball down your throat, and there's nothing you can do about it. Sit on the bus that doesn't go anywhere and shut your mouth, Will Compton," Kittle fired back.

While Iowa has suffered all four losses this season by a combined 15 points, arguably the Hawkeyes' biggest win on the campaign is their 25-24 win over Penn State from Kinnick Stadium on Oct. 18.

Although Iowa needed a last-second 44-yard field goal to beat a bumbling Michigan State program on Saturday, Nebraska fans somehow have the audacity to act tough after the Cornhuskers got thrashed to the tune of a 37-10 score by the same Nittany Lions squad that lost to the Hawkeyes just five weeks earlier.

With tensions heating up between the two historic programs, there will undoubtedly be more fireworks and verbal spats as game day nears.

Iowa takes on rival Nebraska (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten) from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb., at 11 a.m. CT on Friday with the game broadcast on CBS.
