2026 Defensive back Devonte Anderson has flipped his commitment from Louisville to Rutgers, according to his social media page. Anderson is listed as a high three-star athlete according to both Rivals and 247sports.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Winter Garden, Florida, originally committed to Louisville back in July, but Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano, along with running backs coach Damiere Shaw and cornerbacks Coach David Rowe, kept pushing for him to flip his commitment.

During his senior season at West Orange High School, Anderson had 40 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, .5 sacks, 17 passes defended and four interceptions, and one fumble recovery. He took one interception and his fumble recovery back for a score.
He is the No. 74 cornerback in the 2026 recruitment class, according to 247sports, and the No.84 prospect in the state of Florida for the 2026 recruitment class. 247sports recruiting expert Andrew Ivins described him as a Physical corner that looks ideal for a boundary role on Saturdays with his aggressive habits and impressive response time. He also stated that he projects as a potential multi-year starter for a Power Four program that has a higher ceiling with his size and quickness.
A few of the reasons why he flipped his commitment from Louisville to Rutgers are Schiano’s track record of putting defensive backs in the NFL, the opportunity to play in the Big Ten, and the fact that Rutgers did not give up on recruiting him after he had already committed.
