Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 6, "#081693," continues to elevate this gripping Paramount+ crime drama series to new all-time heights. The palpable tension that has been simmering underneath the first five episodes is starting to come to an explosive head, making for some top-notch entertainment once again.
The latest Mayor of Kingstown season 4 episode wastes no time by placing Bunny in crosshairs before the intro credits even roll. From there, Kyle is forced to navigate his unexpected transfer to Gen Pop and is nearly killed before the AB steps in, firming Callahan's grip over his Ad Seg neighbor.
Nina finally reveals her cartel ties and negotiates Kyle's return to Ad Seg in exchange for the arrest of Frank Moses. This turns out to be a win-win for Mike, Ian, and the KPD, since Frank turned out to be the one behind the hit on Bunny in the first place. After Frank is nearly murdered while walking into the police station, it seems like Mike won't rush to get him out of handcuffs anytime soon.
Even more characters start to unmask themselves in this episode, with Torres exposing Kevin's allegiance to Mike and Bunny, and CO Breen being revealed as not just a corrupt hothead, but a total creep, placing CO Cindy in danger.
Ultimately, from a story and character perspective, this sixth episode of Mayor of Kingstown season 4 may just be the greatest of the season so far, setting the stage for a thrilling and combative second half of what has genuinely been a crime series masterpiece.
Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4 Is The Best Crime Series Streaming Right Now
Throughout six episodes, Mayor of Kingstown season 4 just keeps getting better, and episode 6 has a great chance at being the season's high point. Every scene not only has purpose and intensity, but is also masterfully written, directed, and acted – it's somewhat stunning how fantastic this season has become through and through.
The series essentially had to reinvent itself after season 3's ending, which killed off several key characters and sent Kyle to Anchor Bay in a remarkable cliffhanger. With the brilliance of episode 6, I think it's officially safe to say that Mayor of Kingstown season 4 is paying off in phenomenal ways.
Many viewers had suspected Nina was tied to the Colombian cartel, especially after Torres was revealed to be smuggling drugs into Anchor Bay. This suggests, however, that there is still someone above Nina's head who's really calling the shots, and that one person – who is seemingly also the puppet master of Torres and Cortez – still hides in the shadows.
Whoever is calling the shots in Kingstown this season is clearly gunning for Mike, placing barriers between him and his closest allies, like Kyle, Bunny, and Ian, which weakens Mike's weight in town. Cortez says it quite plainly over pancakes – his boss isn't interested in Bunny. He wants control of the city, and Mike is one of those top dogs.
Mike's Power In Kingstown Is Draining – Setting Him Up To Take A Major Blow

Mike is on a fast track to taking a major blow this season – like losing Evelyn or even Kyle – as the walls continue to relentlessly close in on him. At this point, he's still somewhat in the driver's seat, but considering the way Frank played him up until now, Mike just may not realize yet how much control and power he's lost in Kingstown.
With so much set up in the first half of Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 6 begins to establish an endgame between Mike, Nina, Frank, and Kyle. The cartel has been an unstoppable force throughout this season, so Mike is going to have to cooperate if he wants to keep Kyle alive. That could spell big trouble for Frank, but his clean record and calculated sway could be enough to take him off of KPD's hands in no time.
What's most interesting to me is the pace of Mayor of Kingstown season 4 compared to Kyle's prison sentence, which is 2 years maximum. He will likely only have to serve 6 months or so with good behavior, unless Evelyn can pull some strings per Mike's request. That said, we've only got 4 episodes to go, and Kyle's hardly been behind bars for a week or two.
This implies that, if there is a Mayor of Kingstown season 5, Kyle could still be behind bars if he is not killed. Judging by this show's history with killing off main characters, and that emotional scene between Mike and Kyle's wife in episode 5, I think the writing is on the wall for Kyle to be killed on Nina's watch, setting up Mike for a full-blown revenge tour in a theoretical Mayor of Kingstown season 5.
