The Seattle Seahawks took care of business once more with a dominant 26-0 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Seattle has improved to 9-3 on the year, and thanks to the Los Angeles Rams' loss to the Carolina Panthers earlier in the day, move into a tie for first place in the NFC West.

The Seahawks earned their first shutout victory since Week 3 of the 2015 season. Back then, it was a win over the Chicago Bears. Final score? Also 26-0. If I had a nickel for every time the Seahawks had a 26-0 shutout victory over the last decade, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened twice, right?

Seattle faced a favorable matchup from the get-go, with undrafted free agent rookie quarterback Max Brosmer getting the start in relief of an injured JJ McCarthy. As expected, the moment was (understandably) too big for the former Golden Gopher. Brosmer was bullied by the Seahawks' defense, which had a banner day. The rookie completed 19-of-30 passes for only 126 yards, was sacked four, and threw four interceptions.

Two of those picks went to Ernest Jones IV, who also took one of them 85 yards for a touchdown to give the Seahawks a 10-0 lead in the first half. Coby Bryant and Riq Woolen also snagged a pick each, although Woolen did fumble his late in the game which was recovered by Minnesota. All four picks can be seen in the tweets below.

Seattle's defense put the clamps down on Minnesota to such a preposterous degree. The Vikings had only three first downs and 48 net yards of offense after the first half, and finished with only 149 on the day. Minnesota was also 2-for-10 on third down as well. DeMarcus Lawrence was a terror, and forced a fumble from Brosmer to add insult to injury.

I'll admit, I have nothing personally against the Vikings, but watching the Seahawks humiliate the team that ended their season last year was truly enjoyable.

The Seahawks' offense struggled far more than I think folks might have anticipated. Sam Darnold was under constant duress, as Seattle's o-line could not keep him clean. Darnold was sacked four times in the first half alone, completed only 14-of-26 passes for 128 yards. He had no touchdowns or interceptions, but did have a fumble due to getting sacked. Seattle's offensive output was almost exclusively from Jason Myers, who connected on all four field goal attempts, including ones from 56 and 54 yards. He has extended his franchise record for most 50+ yard field goals to 33 in his Seahawks career.

Seattle's only offensive touchdown of the day came courtesy of Zach Charbonnet.

Seattle will be on the road next week in Atlanta to take on the Falcons, who were just upset by the New York Jets earlier today. Atlanta is led by Kirk Cousins, who the Seahawks defeated 34-14 and forced three turnovers from last season.
