Jordan, who confirms an exciting future for the Rocky franchise. Jordan made his debut as Adonis Creed in 2015's Creed, most recently returning to play the character in 2023's Creed III, but a fourth film hasn't yet materialized.
Speaking with Variety, Jordan now confirms that he will be returning to make Creed 4, but there isn't a firm timeline for the movie just yet. The actor, director, and producer also shares his long-term hopes for the franchise, expressing an interest in remaining involved in future installments but perhaps not necessarily being the main focus:
Eventually, definitely. It’s a franchise that’s been really kind to me in a big way. I love MGM and Irwin Winkler and everything they’ve got going on. I think there’s a bit more story to be mined through that. Do I want to be in the ring boxing for the next 15 years? Not so much. But I think there are clever ways and interesting characters we’ve established that we might want to see where that goes, along with some introductions to new ones I have in mind. I still might be able to get a couple of really good swings at the franchise a bit more.
In addition to the positive news regarding Creed 4 and beyond, Jordan confirms that a spinoff show focusing on Adonis' daughter is in on the way:
We’re spinning off doing Adonis’s daughter, Amara’s story, the television show that’s picked up at Amazon. So you’ll be seeing different parts of the Creed-verse, I like to call it. These little IPs are going to keep the universe alive without it being completely reliant on just me to push it through the finish line every time as a boxer. I’ll be adjacent.
After Ryan Coogler directed the first two Creed movies, Jordan stepped behind the camera for his directorial debut for the third installment, which followed Adonis as he faces off against a former childhood friend played by Jonathan Majors. Creed 3 reviews were glowing from critics and the film was a box office hit.
The Creed spinoff show was first announced in May 2025 with the title Delphi. The only plot information revealed about the show is that it would follow the young boxers at the Delphi gym, which also featured in the Rocky movies. With Jordan's latest reveal that Amara is the focus of the show, it's not clear whether Delphi will remain the spinoff's title.
Mila Davis-Kent played Amara in Creed 3, but it is possible that the role will be recast depending on the age they want to explore for the character. As for when it will arrive, there's so far no clear filming timeline, so a 2027 release seems like the earliest it could make its way to Prime Video.
Creed 4, on the other hand, may essentially be a sure-thing, but it's probably further away than the TV show going off of Jordan's "eventually" comment. The fourth film would presumably feature the return of Tessa Thompson as Bianca Creed, Adonis' wife.
As for what happens in the franchise beyond that, it seems like Jordan is ready to take on a role similar to the one Sylvester Stallone had in Creed and Creed II (2018). After being the focus of the franchise for decades, Stallone's Rocky Balboa becomes a mentor figure to Adonis in the spinoff, and Jordan could become a supporting character in this capacity to another boxer.
Rocky will also return, in a way, in I Play Rocky on November 26, 2026. Anthony Ippolito will play Stallone in the Peter Farrelly-directed film, which chronicles the making of the first Rocky movie in 1976.
While questions remain regarding how the future of the Rocky franchise will unfold and when some new projects will arrive, audiences can seemingly bet on Creed 4 and a continuation of this beloved IP in the years ahead.
