2025 has been an excellent year for horror. From a whopping four Stephen King adaptations to Zach Cregger’s return to filmmaking with Weapons, it’s been a time for the spooky, scary things to shine, and we’ve loved every minute of it. Of all the most talked about movies, it’s easy to pull Ryan Coogler’s Sinners to the top of the list and give it the award for the biggest genre film of the year. Starring Michael B. Jordan in both leading roles, the vampire-centered movie was exactly what audiences needed without knowing it. For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of seeing Sinners, soon, you’ll be able to welcome the blood suckers into your living room for your next movie night when it arrives on Prime Video on December 26.

Coming in at 14th overall place on the global box office chart, Sinners earned a staggering $367 million during its worldwide theatrical run. This put it just behind Thunderbolts* and right ahead of a fellow horror favorite, Final Destination Bloodlines, which breathed life back into the deceased franchise. At the core of Sinners is the story of two brothers, Smoke and Stack, who are both played by Jordan. Set in 1932, the pair of identical twins return to their hometown in Mississippi after years away. With their eyes set on opening a juke joint, they strike out to have their big opening night, but, when an ancient evil comes knocking, they soon discover that they’re in for the wildest and bloodiest night of their lives.

While Jordan’s work as the twin brothers drives the soul of Sinners, there are plenty of other supporting performances that help make it an absolute masterpiece. Amongst the call sheet are incredibly talented names like Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell (Rogue Heroes), Delroy Lindo (The Harder They Fall), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), Omar Benson Miller (8 Mile), Jayme Lawson (The Running Man), and more.

What’s Next for Ryan Coogler?

With awards season quickly approaching, we’ll be majorly disappointed to not see Sinners get any of the buzzy love. Meanwhile, Coogler is already looking ahead to his next project, which he recently revealed to be another installment in the Black Panther franchise. Additionally, he’s long been working on something to add to the beloved sci-fi horror series of yesteryear, The X-Files, with plans already in the works to get the project up and running.

Head over to Prime Video on December 26 to stream Sinners.
