The Miami Dolphins are starting to get healthy, both with the players on the active roster and some players coming back from injured reserve. On Saturday, news broke that the team was adding tight end Darren Waller to the active roster from injured reserve, bringing him back from a pectoral injury that cost him four games. Later on Saturday, the team made that move official, but was not the only move the team made.

Miami is bringing back offensive tackle Austin Jackson, who was injured in Week 1 and has been sidelined ever since due to a toe injury. Jackson should move into the starting lineup at right tackle, replacing Larry Borom as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s blind-side protector.

To make roster space for Waller and Jackson, the Dolphins waived tight end Hayden Rucci and offensive lineman Kion Smith. Both players are likely practice squad targets for the team should they clear waivers after this week’s game.

Miami face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, with kickoff at 1 p.m. Eastern. Despite a 4-7 record, the Dolphins, coming off their bye week, could fight their way back into playoff contention if they string together a few more wins. Miami has won their last two games, beating the Buffalo Bills in Week 10 and the Washington Commanders in Week 11.

Waller and Jackson could be the spark that ignites Miami’s turnaround.
