Well, Bryce Underwood didn’t get a win over Ohio State as a true freshman. Instead, the Wolverines lost 27-9 at the Big House.
Underwood, Andrew Marsh and Jayden Sanders were the three true freshman that played in every game this season, while Jordan Young played in 11 and Nate Marshall played in 10. The Wolverines didn’t look to any unsuspected young players in The Game, and there weren’t any redshirts burned in this one.

It wasn’t a great game for Michigan’s true freshmen. Underwood was 8-of-18 for 63 yards and an interception. He only completed 44 percent of his passes and had just one yard rushing. Andrew Marsh didn’t have any targets, despite earning praise from nearly everyone the last few weeks. Even with a banged up running back room, we didn’t see Jasper Parker against the Buckeyes.
On defense, Michigan’s young linebackers, Chase Taylor and Nate Owusu-Boateng, continued to see playing time. As did Sanders, Elijah Dotson and Jordan Young.
We’ll wait to see which bowl game the Wolverines get, but we should see more playing time from some of the true freshmen on both offense and defense. I’m not sure which players may choose to sit out the postseason game, but it’s a little tough to imagine they’d want this game to be the last time they see the field.
