By Amanda GreenwoodShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberA Delta Air Lines Plane—elta 5087 from Detroit, which took off at 7.44 p.m. ET—slid off the runway at around 10 p.m. on November 29 while landing at the Des Moines airport in Iowa. According to NewsRadio 1040 WHO, which first reported the story, all passengers were safely escorted off the plane and no one was injured.
...The incident happened during wintry storm conditions on Saturday, where temperatures were in the 20s and there was blowing snow and high, blustery winds.
Airport spokesperson Sarah Hoodjer confirmed that, "The aircraft remains on pavement at this time and will be moved once it is formally released by the National Transportation Safety Board."
Des Moines airport is temporarily closed and it has not yet indicated when it will reopen.
