Newcastle United claimed a resounding 4-1 win over Everton as the Magpies secured three crucial points.

The Geordies bounced back from a disappointing Champions League loss to secure a second Premier League win on the trot.

Newcastle took the lead via Malick Thiaw in the first minute before Lewis Miley doubled it and Nick Woltemade added a third before the half-time break.

Another Thiaw goal sealed a crucial win for the Magpies, making Kiernan Dewsbury Hall‘s effort nothing but a consolation.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was happy with the performance and singled out some of his stars for praise.

Howe lauded Miley’s display on and off the ball. The 19-year-old played two key passes, created one big chance, and completed 54/56 passes.

He also won 3/3 duels and made eight recoveries.

“Very strong from Lewis,” Howe said (via NUFC’s website). “Lewis is still so young, but just plays with such maturity, which belies his years.

“His technical delivery today was so strong. Also, off the ball, he is winning a lot of second balls for us in that key midfield area.”

Newcastle should cherish and keep Miley at all costs

Newcastle must now be careful not to repeat a familiar, costly mistake.

The club made the difficult decision to sell Elliot Anderson to balance the books, only to later find themselves considering bringing him back.

Miley is showing all the signs of a player who can grow into a cornerstone of this midfield.

He is technically secure, tactically intelligent, and already trusted by his manager in big moments.

Newcastle should see him as part of the long-term project.

A homegrown player with quality and composure in abundance is exactly what sustainable success is built on.

If a talent proves his value, you don’t let it slip away. You nurture it, protect it, and build around it.

Miley deserves that commitment, and Newcastle cannot afford to get this one wrong.
