Michigan State football was in Detroit for a matchup with Maryland inside of Ford Field. While the Spartans won on the field, the biggest question surrounding the Michigan State football program is whether or not Jonathan Smith will be returning in 2026.
Obviously, that decision is going to be made by Spartans athletic director J Batt, who will need to have answers for Michigan State very soon.

It is expected that the answers on Smith will be made public before the end of the weekend, but the waiting game will continue into Sunday.
