BOSTON — After the Bruins missed a chance to win in regulation, Jeremy Swayman made sure they still came away with a victory.
Swayman made four saves in overtime as Boston weathered an overtime penalty kill and then made three stops in the shootout, including a pair of terrific ones.

These two teams will play again on Tuesday in Detroit.
The first period didn’t feature a goal, but there was notable action regardless. Each goalie stopped a breakaway Swayman thwarted Nate Danielson early and Cam Talbot turned back Morgan Geekie.
It had been over a month (Oct. 19) since Mark Kastelic had a fight, but the Bruins forward didn’t look rusty. He roughed up Moritz Seider in the final minute of the first period to bring the TD Garden crowd to life.
Geekie, who had a tip-in goal against the Rangers on Friday, redirected another shot out of the air to put the Bruins up 1-0 early in the second. He changed the direction of Elias Lindholm’s shot, 4:25 into the second.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementLucas Raymond tied the game with 13:22 left in the third. The Red Wing forward redirected a Dylan Larkin shot past Jeremy Swayman to make it 1-1.
Geekie’s second goal put the Bruins ahead and moved him back into a tie for the league lead on the power play with 6:21 left.
But after Boston missed a chance to seal the game with an empty-netter, Michael Rasmussen converted a Patrick Kane assist with 1:54 remaining to force overtime.
The Bruins survived a penalty kill in overtime as the game went to a shootout.
Swayman made 25 saves in regulation and overtime. In the shootout, he deflected Raymond’s bid with his glove and then snatched Patrick Kane’s out of the air before stoning Alex DeBrincat to finish it.
