While the LSU Tigers football team lost on Saturday afternoon and awaits a decision from Lane Kiffin on his future, the Men's and Women's Basketball teams handled their business and went a combined 4-0 over Friday and Saturday.

Starting with the Women's team, ranked No. 5 in the country, they took part in the Paradise Jam - Reef Division.

They started off their weekend by taking down the Marist Red Foxes by a score of 113-53. Superstar freshman ZaKiyah Johnson finished with a career-high 19 points on an efficient 8-of-11 from the field.

Kate Koval had another good night off the bench with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mulkey had a short leash for her after her poor night against the Tulane Green Wave, but Koval has responded well.

It was one of the first real "off" nights for MiLaysia Fulwiley, shooting 3-for-10 from the field, but Amiya Joyner stepped up for a nice night in her stead.

Saturday saw the Women look even more dominant in a 112-35 win over the Washington State Cougars. It was more of a group effort than any one player dominating the floor. Seven different Tigers finished with double-digit scoring, including all five starters.

Kim Mulkey now has her squad off to an 8-0 start and they have yet to finish under 100 points on the year. They have yet to face any real expected competition, though.

Matt McMahon's Men's team is also undefeated, sitting at 7-0 after the Emerald Coast Classic.

Friday saw Dedan Thomas Jr. lead LSU to a 71-62 win over the Drake Bulldogs, with a defense-first matchup. The Tigers shot only 5-of-19 from three as a team while the Bulldogs shot 22-of-61 from the field

Thomas set a new season high with 18 points, though it was a game that he would likely want some shots back. He was 6-of-14 from the field and 4-of-8 from the charity stripe. His weak night from the free-throw line is not too much of a worry, because he was shooting 88.9% on the year before that game.

The Tigers then beat the DePaul Blue Demons by a score of 96-63. It was a much better offensive night, as they shot 69% from the field as a team.

Seven LSU players finished in double digits. Max McKinnon earned the spotlight in this one with a team-best 3-of-4 from deep.

A great weekend from the Tigers basketball teams.
