The Brooklyn Nets (3-16) were coming off a tough loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and had to turn around to play Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks (9-12) in less than 24 hours. Brooklyn also came away from the 76ers with plenty of injuries and it looks like the lack of available bodies contributed to the Nets going home with yet another loss.
The Nets lost to the Bucks 116-99 on Saturday in a game where Brooklyn fell behind by as many as 32 points thanks to them turning the ball over too much. Rookie Danny Wolf had his breakout game of the season with 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists while forward Jalen Wilson had 13 points coming off the bench with some extended minutes thanks to the amount of injuries.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementA major reason that the Nets weren't able to stick with the Bucks in this one is due to forward Giannis Antetokounmpo dropping 29 points and eight rebounds in his second game back from his adductor strain. Brooklyn didn't play with the necessary energy needed to beat the better teams on their schedule so here's the player grades following Saturday's loss to the Bucks:
Tyrese Martin: C-
With Egor Demin missing this game due to the Nets trying to manage his left plantar fascia tear, Martin was the next man up to be the starting point guard, but he struggled in his extended minutes. Martin did a good job of scoring the ball, especially with Brooklyn lacking weapons in this matchup, but he wasn't able to create for others and had his issues on the defensive end of the floor.
Terance Mann: D
Struggled shooting the ball in this one despite getting some good looks against a Bucks team that will give up some open looks if there's enough ball movement, but he wasn't able to take advantage. Mann has been one of the main ball-handlers on the team since the season began, but he wasn't able to create space on his drives and he also turned the ball over more than he usually does.

Williams drew a second straight start most likely due to the absence of players like Michael Porter Jr. and Egor Demin, but his shot was not falling in this one. Williams has given better effort on the defensive end of the floor since Jordi Fernandez benched him against the Knicks so the good news is that Williams has responded to the challenge.
Noah Clowney: D
Clowney shot the ball well in this one, but he didn't play much against the Bucks as he looked to be a step slow on the defensive end of the floor. Clowney had a tough time holding on to the ball and he had trouble defending Giannis Antetokounmpo without fouling, an almost-unstoppable task for any defender being asked to guard one of the best players in the league.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNic Claxton: C-
Claxton was efficient scoring the ball near the rim, but his impact wasn't felt in this game at all as he seemed to be a step slow similar to what Noah Clowney did during his time on the floor. Claxton had a tough matchup against Myles Turner, but he also could have done a better job of having a presence in the paint and defending the rim against Milwaukee's rim attacks.
Jalen Wilson: B+
Wilson saw some extended playing time in this one with Fernandez looking for someone to provide a spark off the bench and Wilson was that guy for Brooklyn. Wilson hasn't had a good start to this season as his shooting hasn't been as good as it was in previous seasons, but he did a great job of attacking the rim and forcing the ref to make a foul when he drew contact.

For anyone who watched this game, Wolf clearly had his best game of the season, but what was evident is that he can help the Nets moving forward, assuming that Fernandez doesn't force him into more G League reps. Wolf did everything from draining three-pointers to driving to the rim and setting up his teammates for some easy buckets when he drew additional defensive attention.
Day'Ron Sharpe: C+
Sharpe saw some extra playing time in this one with Fernandez playing the bench more in the second game of a back-to-back following a poor showing against the 76ers. Sharpe struggled to finish around the basket as players like Jericho Sims were giving him trouble with their length and athleticism across the board, but he did a great job rebounding the basketball.

Powell had some solid playing time in this one, but he wasn't able to make anything happen on the offensive end of the floor, somewhat of a disappointment given what he looked like heading into the Thanksgiving break. Despite the fact that Powell wasn't able to get to any of his sweet spots on the floor, he made some nice plays on the defensive end against a tough Bucks offense.
Ben Saraf: B
Saraf played for the first time since Nov. 11 due to a combination of an ankle injury and playing in the G League, but he looked better than he did at any point earlier in the season. Saraf had some turnover issues, but he did a good job of scoring the ball and setting up his teammates in what looked like having more confidence from his time in Long Island.
