A year after head coach Mike Norvell promising an immediate fix, the Florida State Seminoles once again fell to the Florida Gators by a double-digit margin to end the year, this time a 40-21 loss that clinched FSU’s fourth losing season in six years under his watch.
“Just an extremely disappointing outcome,” Norvell said during his postgame press conference. “Obviously a game that we needed to win, needed to go out and play our best. Didn’t coach good enough, didn’t play good enough.”

Norvell was asked about his promise last year, saying that while FSU fell short of that mark, the Seminoles “showed flashes, areas of growth….[but] we still had too much inconsistency.”
“We’re going to work, asseses, address to do everything that’s necessary to go get it better and get it fixed,” he said. “This is a championship-level program and we need to be competiting for championships. I absolutely belive that there’s talent within this team, talent coming to this team, that will put us in position to compete for championships.”
