After Oregon's gritty win over Washington in Week 14, head coach Dan Lanning touched on the coming CFP and the process moving forward.

Entering their season finale matchup with the Washington Huskies in Seattle, the Oregon Ducks were ranked No. 6 in the latest CFP rankings. A win would assure them a spot in the playoff, giving them the ultimate opportunity to achieve their season-long goal of winning a national championship.

Of course, that will take either three of four wins in the playoff to meet that goal — something that isn't on Ducks head coach Dan Lanning's mind quite yet.

When asked postgame about how eager he is to turn the page to the CFP, he said "I'm excited, very excited."

But that doesn't mean he won't enjoy this win over the rival Huskies, putting a cap on an 11-1 regular season.

"I'm going to enjoy the moment here for a little bit, probably through the rest of the night and then start worrying about what are our prep plans moving forward," he said. "Our team's banged up. It'll be big for us to get healthy. I think everybody at this point in the season is dealing with that, but there's only 12 teams in the nation that get to keep playing. I mean, some others can play, but in the real one, and we get an opportunity to go do that. So I'm excited about that."

Lanning's joy for beating the Huskies is understandable, as he started 0-3 against Oregon's arch rival. The pair of losses in 2023 knocked the Ducks out of the then four-team CFP race, instead sending them to the Fiesta Bowl.

Under Lanning's watch, Oregon has now rebounded with two wins in a row over Washington. Not only is this 2025 win sweet for him, but for the Ducks fan base as well. After the game, Lanning made sure to high-five every Duck fan behind the team's bench spanning the entire length of the field.

It was clear that the win meant a lot. But tomorrow, as Lanning alluded to, the focus begins towards the CFP — and the ultimate goal of winning the first national championship in program history.
