Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Daredevil & Punisher: The Devil's Trigger #1
Following the epic release of the MCU's Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Comics has released the perfect Daredevil/Punisher crossover story. Following the series' brand-new first issue, it may even be the ideal story to get audiences ready for Punisher's upcoming MCU Special.
Coming from Jimmy Palmiotti and Tommaso Bianchi, Daredevil & Punisher: The Devil's Trigger sees the two New York vigilantes at odds with each other due to their opposing views on how to serve justice. This sets the stage for a brand-new crime epic, as Frank Castle targets a major crime family that's receiving legal representation by Nelson & Murdock.
The Devil's Trigger Is The Perfect Daredevil/Punisher Crossover
Even after just one single issue, The Devil's Trigger is everything you want from a Daredevil/Punisher story, especially after we just saw the duo's uneasy MCU reunion/alliance in Daredevil: Born Again.
At the beginning of the series, Frank Castle is determined to wipe out New York's entire Gnucci crime family (classic Punisher foes), with Ma Gnucci only having one son left (Dino). The wrinkle is that Nelson & Murdock just so happen to be representing Dino in court, who in this particular instance, did not commit the crime he's been accused of.
Although Daredevil tries to stop Punisher from taking out Dino Gnucci, he ultimately fails, and the last son is killed. Furthermore, The Punisher knocks Matt out, intentionally leaving him to overhear a meeting of other crime bosses who intend to take over the imploding Gnucci family's operations (criminals Daredevil believed he'd put away for life, and Frank knows it).
As such, it's a major battle of ideology, one where the Punisher arguably has the advantage following this first issue.

It's well worth noting that in the original Netflix Marvel shows, Frank Castle's Punisher similarly targeted the Gnuccis in the MCU as a nod to the classic comics, taking about multiple members of the family in The Punisher season 1. However, we never saw Ma Gnucci herself, though that may soon change nearly a decade later.
This is because Ma Gnucci is heavily rumored to be featured in The Punisher's upcoming MCU Special Presentation set to release next year, with Ma presumably seeking vengeance for her fallen family members. As such, The Devil's Trigger could very well become the perfect new story to get audiences familiar with the classic Punisher villain ahead of her MCU debut.
Daredevil & Punisher: The Devil's Trigger #1 is now on sale from Marvel Comics.
