Despite having eventually become one of the seven Warlords and even an Emperor of the Sea, Buggy doesn't even hold a candle to the likes of Imu, the Five Elders, and the Holy Knights.
It's safe to say his character is divisive among fans, with some hating him and others loving him to the point of wanting to see him inadvertently become the Pirate King before Luffy. Against all odds, Buggy remains an incredibly relevant figure in One Piece to this day, and he could even have a major redemption coming up.
One Piece Teases A Secret Connection Between Rocks and Buggy
One Piece recently graced the cover of issue #52 of Weekly Shonen Jump, which finally revealed Rocks D.Xebec's official color scheme. Unexpectedly enough, Rocks' hair is blue and white, and with Eris also having light hair, it seems Blackbeard takes after neither of his parents with his dark hair.
That said, one character with blue hair that immediately comes to mind is Buggy, who has long been suspected of having some connection to Rocks. Until the Elbaph Arc's latest flashback, a very popular theory going around was that Buggy could be Xebec's son.
The theory was supported by several subtle visual cues, like the physical resemblance between the two and the fact that both Rocks and Buggy's bounty posters also looked eerily similar, down to the pose. This theory has since been disproved, as it is unlikely that Rocks fathered two children and failed to ever mention one.
However, Rocks' blue hair suggests there may still be a symbolic connection between him and Buggy rather than a literal biological one, setting the stage for Buggy to make a huge comeback in the Final Saga.

Perhaps instead of Blackbeard, Buggy will be the one to carry on Xebec's will and his dream of becoming the king of the world. After all, as seen with Roger and Luffy, you don't necessarily need a biological connection to inherit a will in One Piece.
While Blackbeard is seemingly pursuing his father's dream, the one to actually realize it might not be him, but Buggy, even if he does so without really intending to.
The series has also subtly been redeeming Buggy for quite a while, starting with his recent declaration to go find the One Piece. Buggy was also pictured alongside several key players, such as Imu, Garling, Shanks, and Blackbeard, when Vegapunk made his big declaration about the fate of the world depending on who finds the One Piece.
All that goes to say, it's unclear what exactly One Piece has in store for Buggy. But, it's becoming clearer and clearer that he might no longer be the pathetic, gag villain everyone's known him as so far.
