Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) is guaranteed to move down in the College Football Playoff Rankings after losing to rival Texas (9-3, 6-2 SEC) 27-17 on Friday night, as the Aggies will now enter December in unknown territory. Despite the loss, head coach Mike Elko and his team are a lock to make the CFP, while the Longhorns may have a shot with three top 10 wins after defeating the No. 3-ranked Aggies.
Chaos will likely ensue if more upsets come to fruition during Rivalry Week, but for now, most experts believe the Aggies will move down to No. 3-5, 6, or 7, which would mean hosting a first-round game in Kyle Field. So, if Texas A&M falls as low as No. 6, the Aggies would host the 11-seed, which could be an in-state foe, according to the latest Allstate Playoff Predictor.

According to the updated numbers, Texas A&M would earn the 6-seed and host 11-seed SMU, a team the Aggies have not faced since 2014.
SMU (8-3) will face Cal on Saturday night, and the only way the Mustangs make the CFP is if they finish the regular season at 9-3 and win the AAC Championship Game. Right now, this is all assumption, but SMU is more than capable of getting the job done.
