Tom Cruise is a hands-down action legend; his long and illustrious career was recently acknowledged with an Honorary Oscar by the Academy. The actor has done some death-defying stunts for celluloid to entertain fans worldwide. From jumping off a huge cliff on a motorcycle to running with a broken ankle and continuing filming, the actor has given his all to his characters. His filmography is full of titles you can go back to anytime and be amused, and one of his franchises has now taken over two streaming services.

The Cruise-led Jack Reacher and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back have made it to the 10 most-watched titles globally on both Paramount+ and Netflix​​​​​​, per FlixPatrol. The movies were fans’ first introduction to Lee Child’s iconic character on the big screen. The original movie was directed by Cruise’s long-time collaborator Christopher McQuarrie and sees Reacher, a former Military Police officer, investigate a curious case of a man accused of killing five people. It was a massive hit, earning $218.3 million worldwide and a 64% Rotten Tomatoes score. This success was followed by Never Go Back, helmed by Edward Zwick, which sees Reacher getting entrapped in a big conspiracy. The movie is making more noise on both streaming services, while, interestingly, it was an average box office success, earning $162 million worldwide and only a 37% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Tom Cruise Is Teaming Up With Alejandro G. Iñárritu

Cruise’s next movie will see him in an unfamiliar territory in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's currently untitled action film, in which he will share the screen with John Goodman and Riz Ahmed. While other details are scarce, Cruise recently took to social media to share the first glimpse from production, which wrapped earlier this year.

"Today, I share the first photo taken last year during a rehearsal on the set of my new film with Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Alejandro, 25 years ago I watched your first film, the classic Amores Perros. This weekend, 25 years later, I was deeply moved to have been presented the Honorary Oscar by you, my dear friend. I cannot wait to share our new film with you all next year!"

The movie will reportedly follow the most powerful man in the world, who causes a disaster and then embarks on a mission to rectify the problem he created, proving himself to be the savior of humanity.

The Jack Reacher franchise is streaming on Netflix and Paramount+. Cruise's next film is currently slated for release on October 2, 2026.
